2009/10 NBA Season

After beginning the season with trades of Amair Johnson, those players still in Pistons uniform and striving for a championship left. Antonio McDyess signed a deal with the San Antonio Spurs and Rasheed Wallace jumped to the Celtics. The team did manage to resign center Ben Wallace, power forward Chris Wilcox, Ben Gordon and guard Chucky Atkins.

Joe Dumars then fired head coach Michael Curry saying that the team needed a more experienced coach to lead them. Although they went after both Avery Johnson and Doug Collins, the team ended up with John Kuester, who has had less than a stellar outing. The team has been plagued by injury this year. Rip Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince and Ben Gordon have all gone down this season with injuries and the team officially fell off the playoff radar on March 23, 2010 when they were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. Their current record is 23-50 and they are assured a lottery pick in the 2010 draft.
